1. What is Facebook Utility Message?
Facebook (Meta) has a 24-hour messaging rule.
Once a customer sends you a message, you can freely reply within 24 hours.
After 24 hours, you are no longer allowed to send regular promotional or standard messages.
To solve this, Meta introduced Utility Message.
A Utility Message allows businesses to send transaction-related notifications even after the 24-hour window has passed.
It is meant for:
- Cart reminders
- Payment links
- Order confirmations
- Transaction updates
2. Important: What You Cannot Include ⚠
Utility Messages must be non-promotional.
❌ Do NOT include:
- Discounts
- Promo / Sale wording
- Limited-time offers
- Live session invitations
- New product announcements
- Marketing slogans (e.g., “Don’t miss out!”)
✅ Allowed content:
- Order number
- Cart link
- Payment reminder
- Payment deadline
- Order amount
- Customer support assistance
If your message contains promotional elements, Meta may:
- Reject the message
- Restrict Messenger sending ability
- Lower your Page quality rating
