How to Use Facebook Utility Message in Boxify (Avoid the 24-Hour Rule Limitation)
This article explains Facebook’s 24-hour messaging rule and how Boxify uses Utility Messages to send order updates to customers after that window closes.
What is the Facebook 24-hour rule?
Section titled “What is the Facebook 24-hour rule?”Facebook allows you to freely send messages to a customer for 24 hours after they message you. After that 24-hour window, Facebook blocks standard messages.
To work around this, Facebook introduced Utility Messages. A Utility Message lets businesses send transaction-related notifications after the 24-hour window.
Utility Messages are intended for:
- Cart reminders
- Payment links
- Order confirmations
- Transaction updates
What you cannot include in a Utility Message
Section titled “What you cannot include in a Utility Message”Do NOT include:
- Discounts or sale wording
- Limited-time offers
- Live session invitations
- New product announcements
- Marketing phrases (for example, “Don’t miss out!”)
You may include:
- Order number
- Cart link
- Payment reminder
- Payment deadline
- Order amount
- Customer support contact
